DV8Fitness Kettlebell Strength and Condition News

The FMS Certified Trainer says, "Working on any other part of the chain will not improve the strength of the chain with a weak link. My clients' bodies are no different."

Your clients run the gamut of day-to-day functions, from the mundane to athletic. Whether a sedentary individual or a pro athlete, you can never truly know a body's history – unfortunately, neither can your client. Accidents, sports injuries, and bad movement patterns developed from overcompensating for muscular deficiency or pain all affect YOUR ability to get EVERY client where they want and need to be. Are you flying blind without even knowing it? Could you be harming your clients more than helping? And if you're a good enough trainer, willing to admit this possibility, ARE YOU READY TO TAKE ACTION?

Functional Movement Screen (FMS) certification puts that control back in your hands.

  • Brett Jones, Master RKC, MS, CSCS, co-creator of the CK-FMS program, national and international lecturer and presenter of RKC and FMS, and one of only four Master RKC Instructors worldwide, is coming to Philadelphia, May 8-9 to run a two day FMS certification. This is not a workshop! An expert in behavior modification with an in depth knowledge of orthopedic evaluation and rehabilitation, Jones has worked with athletes of all levels, including the NFL, NHL, NBA, and MLB.
  • Functional Movement Screening (FMS) certification will give you - the trainer - consistent, unbiased feedback and measurable progress monitoring to easily and effectively delineate what IS working for clients and what's NOT.
  • You will be able to pick up asymmetries and stability issues, and offer your clients a scientifically designed, easy way to help CORRECT those deficiencies, all while individually customizing their fitness plan, helping to both prevent non-contact injuries and facilitate more effective training techniques.
  • This two day FMS certification gives you access to tracking software(additional fee), improvement strategies, and you will be listed on its national network of practitioners – all for $500.

Endorsement "It's the foundation of our program. Everything we do builds off of it. We wouldn't think of not using this program." Jon Torine, Head Strength Coach, Indianapolis Colts, Indianapolis, IN.

Well, the summer of frustration, hard work and countless hours of instruction all paid off in the end.  Brian Shane has officially become a Certified Russian Kettlebell instructor, RKC.  Brian came to me about 1 year ago, with the hope of learning something new.  He could not even get into a 90 degree squat, let alone a rock bottom one.  I never met anyone who kept such detailed notes of every one of my classes. Brian is unique in that he absorbs every piece of information and drill that I showed him.

Determination, Hard work and persistance got Brian through RKC.  I gave him the tools and he used all of them to get him where he is today. Check out Brian's testimonial on my home page DV8Fitness.com

Out

Hello all you DV8Fitness fans.

I want to thank the group of people that came out tonight to experience my substitute workout while Phil Scarito is at the Russian kettlebell certification level II training this weekend.

It was a hot day over at Wilson's Farm Park. There wasn't much of a breeze and the sun was shining down on us

Today's workout : "The Hill of Doom."

I wanted to post today's workout so that we'll have it for future reference.

We started off with stretching as usual. Neck rotations, arm rotations and leg rotations to start. Then seven halos in both directions followed by a series of slingshots, 10 in one direction and then 10 reversed.

Once the warm-up was over, we got right into our workout. Instead of having the workout at our standard pavilion location, I moved the victims and the bells over to a small hill. This hill would be the focus of the work out for the evening.

Starting at the bottom of the hill:

Phase 1: swing, rack walk, squat

10 swings, left/right

Rack the bell, carry it up to the top of the hill,

3 squats with the bell,

Rack the bell and go back to the bottom of the hill.

Repeat 10 times decreasing the swings at the bottom of the hill by 1 each time but continue with three squats at the top of the hill.

One minute rest:

Rack the kettlebell and carry them from the hill to the pull-up bars.

Five pull-ups each

Rack the kettlebell and returned to the hill

Phase 2: body weight and bear crawl

Five push-ups at the bottom of the hill

Bear crawl to the top of the hill

Five birdies at the top of the hill

Bear crawl in reverse back down the hill

Repeat decreasing by one repetition

One minute rest:

Five pull-ups each

Phase 3: the squat and run

We brought our bells over to the curb and did the following.

10 squats with the bell

Short parking lot run with sprint

Repeat the above decreasing the amount of squats by 2 each time.

One minute rest:

Stretch and cool down

I hope everyone enjoyed the workout tonight.

Sincerely,

John Hubickey
